SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ALKALINE EARTH METAL DODECYLSULPHATES

Abstract

The paper deals with the synthesis and characterization of alkaline earth metal dodecylsulphates. Alkaline earth metal dodecylsulphate compound were prepared by direct metathesis. Four new anionic surfactants (Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba dodecylsulphates) have been synthesized. The preparation and quality of these compounds were checked by IR and elemental analysis. Researchers would be better off in their endeavour to correlate the studied physico-chemical characteristics of the synthesized compounds with their qualitative worth. Critical micelle concentration of alkaline earth metal dodecylsulphates were measured at different temperature ((25-45°C).
