Abstract

Wellness is a daily striving towards being the best. It means engaging in attitudes and behaviours that enhance quality of life and maximise personal potential. It is optimal level of physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual state of an individual. A lot of research all over the world has been directed to evolve, methods, ways, means or techniques for achieving and attaining the optimal level of wellness. One of the effective means of achieving wellness is Yoga. Yoga is our richest cultural heritage which is both — the means as well as the goal. It aims at developing mend body and soul in an integrated and harmonious manner. Yogic practices create an urge to work, capacity to manage, self-confidence, mental balances, and impart peace and happiness. Through participation in yogic practices one attains a fine degree of physical, mental, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual health. It enhances self-confidence, firmness, will-power, creative thinking, perseverance, truthfulness, positive attitude, purges, one's arrogance, false ego, falsehood, false pride, stubbornness and fear. Yoga can play a vital positive role in achieving and maintaining wellness.
