Abstract

Osteoblasts play a role in the synthesis and deposition of collagen and other protein which behave as a scaffold for the mineralization of new bone tissue. Osteocytes play a role in finding mechanical stress amd controlling bone remodelling by signalling to osteoclasts as well as osteoblasts. Bone remodelling is controlled by hormones such as calcitonin (CT) and Vitamin D. Cytikines like RANKL and OPG are also involved in the regulation of osteoclast. Growth factors show impact on bone healing as well as remodelling. Osteoporosis and Pagets disease are treated as bone disorders. Clinical significance of bone remodelling include maintenance of bone density, fracture healing and calcium homeostasis.
